Belt Sander Drag Race
The Buckland Volunteer Fire Dept. held it's Annual Belt Sander Drag Race,
Saturday, June 18 th. 2006. This year the race was sponsored by our friends at NAPA Auto Parts, located in Wapakoneta and Sidney. The race was a success.
There were11 belt sanders entered and raced, everyone had a great time, including both the
racers and spectators.
This
year to make things more competitive and to conform to other belt sanding race events
rules and regulations, we eliminated the Super Stock Class from the line up and only raced
Stock and Modified Classes. We also changed the format from single elimination to
double elimination. The changes seemed to go over well with the racers and
spectators present.
7 sanders
were raced in the "Stock" class, and 4 in the "Modified" class.
In the end, one sander from each class clawed it's way to the top. Wall plaques and
a $50.00 cash prizes were presented to the winning sander of each class. The sander
to come in second place of each class was also awarded a wall plaque. The sander
judged as "Best of Show" was awarded a wall plaque and a $25.00 cash prize.
