Who Funds the Buckland Fire Department?
A.
The Buckland Fire Department is actually owned by the Village of
Buckland. Funds to cover equipment and operating costs are provided by the Village
of Buckland, Moulton Township, Logan Township, and parts of Duchouquet and Salem
Townships. Additional funds are raised by Department sponsored fund raisers held
throughout the year.

How do I become a Volunteer Firefighter for the Buckland
Volunteer Fire Department Inc.?

You begin by filling out an application. You then have an
interview with the Officers of the Buckland Volunteer Fire Department. Once accepted
you must attend and successfully complete a state certified TNI Course.

How many square mile does the Buckland Volunteer Fire Department
Inc. cover?
A.
52 Square mile.

What is the average number of fire runs, responded to by the
Buckland Volunteer Fire Department, in a year?
A.
Approximately 45 to 60 fire runs are responded to by the
Department in any given year, not including an additional 25 to 30 first responder runs.

Why was the First Responder Unit started?
A.
The First Responder unit was started to assist area E.M.S. on
accident scenes, and has evolved into responding on medical emergencies in our area.

What additional training is required to become State Recognized
First Responder?
A.
A 40 hour First Responder Course is required as well as
successfully passing a State of Ohio Certified Test.

What does it take to become an Honorary Member of the Department?
A.
Honorary members are those who are no longer serving as an active
member on the department, however, have given at least 10 years service to the department
as an active firefighter. Those members, often retired, receive the status of
"Honorary" in appreciation of all their years of hard work. They are
considered part of the fire department family and are shown the respect (Honor) that they
have earned.
